GRADING AND PACKING SYSTEM:
After harvested the flowers are transported in a special cart to the packing plant where a group of highly skilled and specialized workers submit each and every flower spray to strict quality control, looking for correct stem length, number of buds per stem, number of open flowers, and any problem flowers may present.
Dendrobium is classified in Long, Medium, and Fancy. Bunches of 10 stems are placed in a plastic sleeve or bag, 6 or 10 bags depending on the size are placed in the box.
The Oncidium uses the same packing system, the bunches are made of 10 stems but we put 8 bunches per box.
Mokara boxes are shipped with 5 stem bunches, and the box contains 15 bunches, a total of 75 stems per box.
The orchid collection bouquet contains stems Oncidium, Dendrobium and Mokaras plus 1 green, the box contains 15 bouquets.
All masters are shipped with double wall cardboard boxes to insure more protection from cold damage, we try to maintain at 54 F for optimum freshness.
In an effort to serve our customers better, and in order to simplify purchase orders, Orchimex is offering three main package types: solid white boxes, color varieties, and mixed type (containing a minimum of 3 white bunches). Any package can be ordered in Fancy, Medium, or Long size.
FREIGHT RATES
The weight of the box is given on volumetric weight (weight that airlines give to the box). There are daily flights from San Jose to Miami with several airlines, all of them have the similar freight rates that range from:100 - 299 kg $1.00 / kg, 300 - 499 kg $0. 95/ kg, 500 kg and more $0.85 / kg.
PRODUCT AVAILABILITY
Our production season begins on September and ends in May. Unfortunately some varieties do not flower season round and availability must be confirmed before purchase. Our production distribution per color is: white 50 %, Karen (two tone) 30%, Madam Pompadour ( solid purple ) 10 % , Kenny Pink ( pink) 10%.
